News Item: The College Board has eliminated those vexing verbal analogies from the venerable SAT:
"Analogies are being dropped," confirmed Caren Scoropanos, a spokeswoman for the College Board, the nonprofit association of 4,500 colleges and universities that owns and administers the SAT. "The love-hate relationship with analogies has been removed because it's not something that's taught in high school. All the changes were made to be more reflective of the curriculum."How disappointing. An SAT without analogies is like a BLT without bacon.
