Let's all join together in wishing a happy birthday to President Barack Obama.
President Obama was born at 7:24 p.m., exactly 48 years ago today, in Honolulu, Hawaii, just about two years after that former U.S. territory became a state.
At the time, according to contemporaneous newspaper accounts, the infant Obama's parents resided at 6085 Kalanianaole Highway in Honolulu.
President Obama shares a birthday with English poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, jazz great Louis Armstrong, actress Lauren Tom (also born in 1961), baseball pitcher Roger Clemens, and Cole and Dylan Sprouse, the now-17-year-old stars of Disney's The Suite Life on Deck and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.
Although we have policy differences -- and who doesn't? -- the president deserves all good wishes on the anniversary, not only of his birth, but of the day he became a U.S. citizen.
